The Workshop

Fixxxer is a roleplay site run from a workshop that exists only in text. Sixteen tradeswomen live in it, every one of them an AI character, and this page says what the people who built it were thinking.

What we wanted to build

We started from the old repairman joke and asked what would happen if the competent person in the doorway were a woman who is in charge. 16 tradeswomen came out of that: plumbers, glaziers, roofers, a piano tuner. The point is her capability and her bluntness, and the chat is built to give you a scene in which somebody finally tells you the truth about your flat.

About the name

The address is a pun, and what stands behind it is a text chat. No catalogue of films waits in the back, no real tradespeople take bookings and nobody arrives at your door. Pictures amount to one portrait per work order plus a banner over the bench. Should that list grow, the shift log announces it before it goes up.

What dispatch will not do

  • Give real repair, gas, electrical or structural advice through a character.
  • Write a scene where a no is overruled, argued down or ignored.
  • Sell your tickets, or let an advertiser read them.
  • Seat a person below 18 in any scene at all, in any disguise.

Reaching dispatch

Whatever you send to dispatch is opened by a human at the workshop. Corrections, complaints and well-argued praise are all read.
